Some babies seem more prone to rashes than others. These skin disorders can create an uncomfortable situation for a child. However many parents have discovered that there are several natural treatments for baby eczema that can be used to relieve the problem.

One of the first steps to prevention of the problem is to avoid products that are heavily perfumed. These scents can often create even worse outbreaks. Soaps, lotions, oils and laundry detergents are often the problem causing agents. Even the so called babies scent of powders or oils may make the problem much worse. When possible select products that avoid these scents.

Be cautious about changing to a new brand or scent of anything. If you have a laundry detergent that works and is labeled as hypoallergenic, do not assume any hypoallergenic detergent will work. With manufacturers constantly changing and improving products, this can be difficult. If you notice that stores are replacing something that works with the child with a new and improved product, be sure to stock up on the old product that works.

Avoid bathing the child every day. Switch to an every other day routine for regular baths. In most cases, this provides plenty of cleanliness and prevents the water from robbing the skin from needed moisture.

Replace soap with oatmeal. Try placing a small amount in the end of a cotton sock to wash the body. It provides the soapiness needed for the bath but soothes skin that has become irritated. Be sure to throw the oatmeal out after each bath.

Bleach added to bath water in small amounts can help to solve the child's problem. The ratio is very small, such as one quarter cup per twenty gallons of water. It is important that children not ingest bleach water. Water should remain lukewarm during the bath to prevent drying of the child's skin. After bathing, be sure to apply a moisturizer.

If the home remedies do not work, try an over the counter cortisone cream. The creams soothe the skin and provide moisture. If the creams that are available over the counter do not work, it may be time to ask for something stronger from the doctor. Some parents find help from prescriptions medication for the child.

No one wants to see a child suffer. If a skin condition is causing irritation that is itchy and irritated, then these natural treatments for baby eczema may be helpful. Sometimes the most effective therapy is prevention of the problem in the first place.
