So you will find the best solution to the problem and be able to share with others who are in need. Your discoveries and learning would really help you to be a better adviser.
Display sense of appreciation. Show to them that you really care. So they will be encourage to share all the things you needed to hear from them. And they will find comfort with your presence. It is necessary so they will not be afraid of you. The simple things they did, must be appreciated.
