Most of the causes for lumbago are not very clear. It is however believed that most of the discomfort can be due to non-serious skeletal issues or muscle issues like strains and sprains. There are a couple of signs and symptoms that you will start seeing and experiencing should you be suffering from lumbago. You will start feeling discomfort after some certain movements like bending forward, or twisting and even lifting. The symptoms that you will be experiencing can start anytime from straight after the movement that might have caused it to even only the following morning.

The kind of discomfort that you may be experiencing can be only very mild tenderness across the lumber part or it can be so intense that you can hardly move. Certain kinds of movements have the ability to make some of the discomfort much worse than others. Movements like raising your legs might not be as bad as moving your body to sit or stand in a certain positions.

The discomfort can radiate all the way down the legs. This kind of discomfort is also known as sciatica. Lumbago is sometime one of the number one reasons why people between the ages of twenty and forty will visit the doctor.

More than half of these patients will probably visit the doctor on more than one occasion for the same problem and for some pain management. One of the other problems that can be cause by lumbago is sleep problems. Sleep problems can be anything from having difficulty falling asleep, or if the patient eventually falls asleep, they will probably have disturbances when they sleep, as they will wake up every time they move or even have shorter periods of sleeping because they cannot lie down for very long.

You need to also keep in mind that when you lift stuff up from the ground you need to keep up straight and bend your knees. If you lift things, the wrong way you can injure yourself quite badly and you might just end up suffering from lumbago. Apart from these minor things that can cause the lumbago there can be so many things that can be so bat that the patient can end up completely paralyzed. This can be caused by tumors on the spine, nerves that gets damaged and herniated disks or even fractured disks.
