Effective Seborrheic Dermatitis Skin Care

Having a bad rash on their body can be a very uncomfortable situation for most people. When the condition appears periodically and with out warning it becomes a chronic problem. Many people suffer with this type of rash on their faces as well as their bodies and have found that there is no cure for it. Also, allowing olive oil to dry on the affected areas prior to cleansing with a mild soap has helped many with facial lesions.

The items that can be purchased at the neighborhood drug stores without prescription are generally meant to be used on the scalp. Knowing which ingredients are most effective for relief can lead to a solution without the expense of a doctor visit. Use of these shampoos on facial and body areas can be very effective. One of the best ingredients to look for is Salicylic acid. This is an exfoliate that dissolves the cells of skin allowing the old tissues to be washed away. Removal of dead cells is an essential part of an optimum treatment plan.

Coal tar and tea tree oil are both fungicidal ingredients that kill the malassezia that contributes to seborrheic dermatitis on the face. Tea tree oil has been identified as the best fungicide in clinical tests and can be found in many products used in caring for the complexion and skin.

Using zinc helps to stop new areas from appearing and prevent additional flakes from happening. Zinc is also helpful uneven texture that is seen on facial surfaces. It is also reduces the amount of sebum produced on the face which helps to control the severity of any rash that may appear.

When the problem is severe it is recommended that a doctor be contacted for help. Corticosteroid treatments are effective for relief from the itching and pain of the rash. Doctors are able to prescribe shampoos and treatments for patients that are not available over the counter. Most times medical treatment can bring relief when other remedies have failed even if only on a temporary basis.
